The Kashmir Conflict

Imagine you’re inside of a war that has been lasting for 73 years. This is what’s happening in the land of Kashmir. Indian forces have gone against human rights and all Kashmir wants is for the war to stop and for them to become independent. I fully believe that Kashmir should become independent.

Let me start of by saying, the war has been going on for way too long. As I stated from the first paragraph, it’s been 73 years. (Which is way too long for a war if you ask me.)  About 70,000 people have died from the Kashmir conflict according to human rights organization. All of this because of land. Innocent lives lost.  According to recent polls by scholars, 91% of Kashmiri citizens already want to be independent. So why can’t they? Because they’re bound by the chains called India and Pakistan.

Secondly and finally, Indian forces have gone against human rights and have done extrajudicial killing, raping, torturing, and enforced disappearances on Kashmiri citizens. They’re being treated horribly. Again, this majorly goes against human rights. It goes against morals. Every human has rights, and right now these rights are being violated.  If Kashmir were independent, the Indian government would take out the forces and this would ultimately stop.

As you can see, Kashmir deserves to be an independent country. They are being treated unfairly, they want to get out of this crazy mess. 73 years is truly too long. They deserve independence, as every person should have.
